Arriving in Lovehoney’s standard discreet brown packaging, the product itself comes in a lovely pink box, decorated with a black bow. With a sturdy foam insert, and matching pink brush, it all looks and feels high quality. The only hiccup we had with the box was a warning on the back declaring this item to be skincare, rather than a food item. After a quick visit to HighOnLove’s website, we confirmed that this body paint is indeed safe for consumption! Upon opening the bottle, which comes with a nifty press-and-twist-to-open safety cap, we were met with a small plastic stopper. Removing this stopper took a bit of prying, and when it finally popped off, it left a chocolatey trail in its path. So be mindful of when and where you open this product, especially if, like me, you’re someone who prefers to reuse these stoppers after the initial opening. The body paint itself, being water and hemp oil based, is slightly thinner than one might expect of a chocolate body paint. The instructions on the box tell you to dip the brush into the bottle to paint, which is undoubtedly because the product is too runny to just pour on. This, combined with a bottle that cannot stand upright, and has a rather small opening, makes for a messy situation. If you’re planning on doing repeated painting in a single session, I’d advise to pour a bit of the product into a more action-friendly container. However, the body paint itself is the main attraction here, and certainly does not disappoint. It is absolutely delicious, actually tastes like rich dark chocolate, and HighOnLove’s claim of being inspired by the chocolatiers of Brussels is certainly reflected here. It being slightly thinner also means it licks off quite easily, and you’re not left with leftover sticky chocolate smears all over you. We had loads of fun with this body paint, and I’m sure anyone else who uses it will do so too, I absolutely recommend it.
